Whether it’s one to one support, delivering training or facilitating open conversations around wellbeing, I create safe spaces, for real and meaningful discussions, that are ‘human’ and personal, not corporate. My focus is on you, to feel seen, heard and supported, with the hope to creating lasting change.
Increasingly today so many people from the very young to older are struggling with their overall mental health and wellbeing. The ‘systems’ are under strain and the waiting lists are just too long. In order for us to survive this pandemic of poor Mental Health, Mental Health disorders, we all need to play our part in preventing, minimising and aiding mental ill health recovery.
I am in my 50s, a mum of two teenagers and changed career direction in 2017 building a new career within counselling and delivering mental health first aid training – initially for a local NHS CCG . During my time working within this area, I have been inspired and humbled by the many insights gained into the world of others, their personal challenges, stories and struggles experienced. And more importantly how they have found their way to overcome, minimise and or manage those struggles.
Like you, like my clients and like me, we all have a mix of good and not such good times. Everyone has a story to tell and each story is unique to each person (their history, their circumstances, environment, support etc).
I have always had an interest in mental health and wellbeing, although I have not always had great health – in my 20’s I lived with an invisible and very misunderstood illness ME/CFS (following a bout of flu). As an organic illness, its’ impact was harsh and it took several years to fully recover, with many unknowns, and increased anxieties. However, I did always ‘fight’ & believe I’d be well again and fully recovered to manage a very full & demanding career, having twins, working full time and be in great health (for which I am forever grateful and cherish).
The beauty of now being older are the lessons learnt from life’s up and downs, the incredible people that I have been fortunate to meet and work alongside and believing that it’s never too late to make changes, to feel better and be better in ourselves, at home, work, school and within our families.
Whatever our experiences I truly believe that when we are ready and if we want to, with a bit of help, we can find our way to have a happier, well and fulfilled lives, with enhanced relationships and successful careers.
And with the utmost belief that: Change is always possible ….
